Trash the Dress: Victoria

I have been wanting to post these pics for about two months now but have been so swamped with holiday portraits and weddings (thank you amazing clients!!) that my blogging has fallen way behind. Things are slowly starting to wrap up and I cannot believe Christmas is only a week away, but it means I finally have the time to blog this, yeah!

I photographed Victoria’s wedding last June and had so much fun photographing her and Pete that I knew she would be a great model for a Trash the Dress session. We were blessed with a gorgeous and surprisingly sunny October day for our shoot up in Snohomish. I had not shot up there much but Victoria knew all kinds of great places. We started in a cemetery and ended at Snohomish High School, and hit a playground, downtown Snohomish, lake and a pumpkin patch in between. Hope you enjoy!

Senior Portraits: UW Autumn

I met up with this lovely senior for a surprisingly lovely and even sunny autumn day right before Thanksgiving for a shoot around the UW campus. As a theater student, she had me cracking up with her faces and humor – overall a super enjoyable shoot and we were even able to capture a bit of fall color.

Engagement Session: Lisa & Connor

I will be photographing Lisa & Connor’s fabulous Leavenworth wedding next July and am so excited for it! It will be at Connor’s aunt and uncle’s cabin on the lake, so I know it is going to be beyond gorgeous. As a warm-up, we did engagement pictures at the Arboretum and Greenlake and caught some beautiful fall color. Their first outfit choice was a little Cougar/Husky rivalry which I thought was an adorable idea. It also happened to be the day of the Husky/Duck game so there were tons of fans tailgating at the Arboretum (so hardcore, drinking and eating hot dogs at 10am, I was very impressed!) and they both looked right at home with each other, even if they are rooting for different teams – although I don’t want to be in their house during the Apple Cup! Enjoy a little sneak peek…

The color of this tree just kills me, so gorgeous!

This bridge at the Arboretum is possibly my favorite place to shoot…

Their adorable pup joined us for a few shots as well. :)

Baby Portraits: Little E

This cutie is the new son of the cousin of one of my closest friends (that sounded really complicated coming out of my mouth!). He came in for a Halloween day session, full of smiles, and we had a great time getting shots with Mom and Dad.

Dad was a pro at the one handed baby hold. :)

And since I can’t post without a picture, here is a little cutie that just came into the studio. Hello lashes!

Julie & Robbie Wedding: Terra Blanca Winery

The barrel room was a beyond amazing space to shoot – could have done an all day shoot down there!

I loved the salon’s zebra motif.

Crystal, another good friend of mine, making her second appearance as bridesmaid this year after serving as maid-of-honor for her sister Sarah’s wedding back in April.

The groom getting prepared for his day of close-ups and paparazzi action..

Waiting for the bride…

First look, love Julie’s expression as she sees Robbie waiting for her.

This is what you get when you ask three groomsmen with no watches for the time.

Um, too cute for words really.

Who is stronger, the groom or his best man/brother?

I think it goes to the groom.

LOVED the dresses and flowers!

A winery mistletoe…

Love this sneak peek of the bride.

Did I mention I love the barrel room??

Such a cute ring bearer and he did so well walking down the aisle. The gummy bears (or was it monkeys?) that the best man had didn’t hurt either…

The front doors to the winery tasting room are AMAZING! And crazy heavy. :)

This shot is totally made by the best man thumbs-upping through the left-hand window.

How cool is the setting on Julie’s ring?

Lauren caught the bouquet, or rather it caught her. Smacked right into her, she had no choice!

The groom is a former CSI so it was only appropriate that his garter removal would involve gloves, tweezers and the CSI theme song.

Thriller anyone?

Photo booth was a blast as usual!

I even got to join in with my girls for a little photo booth fun!

Congratulations Julie and Robbie! Thanks for having me as a part of your special day, it was such a blast!

Tricia & Matt Wedding

Tricia and Matt were married on a gorgeous late August Saturday at the Elliott Bay Marina. I met Tricia over a year ago when she brought her two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels into the studio, so I was thrilled when they booked me for their wedding. We had a blast doing their engagement session last fall at Greenlake and Pike Place Market – in fact at a few moments they had me laughing so hard that I couldn’t even take pictures! You can even see one of their shots on my blog header above (right corner). Needless to say I was super excited to photograph their wedding as I knew it was going to be a blast and a time to hang out with two people I have come to think of as friends. Gorgeous day, gorgeous couple, gorgeous wedding…I will let the pictures speak for themselves…

Gorgeous shoes with an impressive heel, especially since she was walking on a dock!

This little pup is Bella who I photographed in the studio and the reason I originally met the bride. Still as cute as ever!

Channeling the Beastie Boys…

LOVE the mix of shoes!

Adorable flower girl, niece of the bride.

Best groom reaction ever!!

After they realized she put the ring on the wrong hand…:)

Boogying out to some Dirty Dancing, “Time of my Life”

The dock they were married on had the most amazing view and we were lucky with beautiful light!

I had such a blast with this couple at their engagement session last fall, so I knew their wedding was going to be a blast – and they definitely didn’t disappoint!

Alright, who invited this guy?

They had delicious catering by none other than Jones BBQ. To counteract the BBQ sauce that comes with that, they had custom made aprons to cover up their clothes – cutest thing ever!

Couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day or night.

The maid-of-honor has cornered the market on sliced cake carrying.

This jacket just says it all (and was also worn by the friend of the couple’s that married them – shiniest and sparkliest minister I’ve ever seen!)

Congratulations Tricia and Matt!!

Skansonia Wedding: Laura & Jeff

Laura and Jeff were married on a gorgeous June afternoon (yes, I know I am behind in my blogging, where has the summer gone??) and my amazing assistant Aaron and I had a blast photographing them. We met up with the bride at the hotel for a few getting ready shots before heading over to Gasworks (can you believe it was my first ride in a limo? Crazy I know) for some bridal party shots and the first look. The wedding party was a lot of fun and went along with all my wild and crazy ideas – okay, not that wild, but I love a willing audience.

The ceremony and reception all took place nearby at the Skansonia. Great view, great weather and great atmosphere. They had a mix of DJ and live band, which was amazing! It gave it such a fun vibe and really got people dancing. It made it incredibly hard to leave when we were done shooting!

One of my new favorite locations to shoot, gorgeous light…

How fun is this swanky red couch? I want it!

How many groomsmen does it take to put on a boutineer? Three, apparently…

How cute is this first look?!

Love the shadows in this shot.

This shot is totally made by the swinging arms of the bridesmaid third from the left…march it on out!

The Skansonia has a lot of fun photo opps built in.

There were lots of guests, so they lined the second floor balcony for the ceremony.

Okay, this was probably the funniest ring bearer entrance ever! He was feeling a little gun shy, so his dad had to help him out. The crouched walk says it all. Ha!

Normally I don’t include pictures of people getting food as it is generally not so exciting, but the flower girl was too cute to pass up. The tongue – love it! And who doesn’t love a girl who eats her greens?

Such focus and determination for that bouquet. And check the dude in the green shirt in the background – can’t resist getting in on the action?

The amazing live band, full horn section and all.

Best dancing face!

Congratulations Laura and Jeff!

Baby Portraits: Little H

This super smiley and adorable baby came into the studio a few weeks back and made my day. He was all smiles right from the start and made my job so easy. Often times the hardest shot to get with babies is the family shot as little ones respond best to mom or dad (the people they know best) bouncing around behind me trying to get them to smile, but when mom and dad are both in the shot, it is just me bopping about and often the smiles aren’t quite as enormous. Not the case with this little one though! If anything it was hard to not get smiles as you will see below…

I mean, are you kidding me? Just so stinkin’ happy, I love it!

Victoria & Peter Wedding: Lord Hill Farms

This post is long overdue, partly because there were so many great shots, I was having major issues narrowing it down to just a sneak peek! Victoria and Peter were married in June at Lord Hill Farms in Snohomish, which is a beautiful (and new to me, so quite exciting) location with a huge farmhouse with upstairs for the ceremony and downstairs for the reception as well as lots of land to walk around and photograph in different locations. It was definitely a warm day, so I think we were all grateful that the wedding was inside in some shade! The bride was definitely down for a great variety of shots and had alloted a good amount of time before the ceremony for pictures, which for a photographer is an absolute dream as it gave me a chance to get a lot of different set-ups with the couple and the large bridal party.

The reception was gorgeous with great flowers and centerpieces and a very elegant feel to the place and once the music started, people were boogying down! We also got a chance to try out our photo booth, which was a complete blast as people get so into it and it is a wonderful way to get great shots of your wedding guests. I wish all weddings had the photo booth! Alright, now on to the sneak peek…

They included images from their engagement session at the UW as part of their wedding favors, which I of course love!

The bridal party was a lot of fun and so easy to work with.

1..2..3..pose!

I think this shot with the sun flair is one of my absolute favorites!

So gorgeous!

The staircase up to the ceremony was so pretty, great for a photo op.

Okay, best walk down the aisle ever! I love the bride’s excitement and the blur of bridesmaids behind as they make their way back up the aisle.

A quite moment after signing the marriage license.

Okay, best cake cutting series I think I have ever photographed! First off, they are cutting it with a huge sword, then when that doesn’t work so well, the groom whips out a dagger and goes at it. The bride’s reaction is just priceless and it was hilarious to watch!

This just cracks me up as well, as usually with garter tosses, the guys are all backing away trying NOT to catch it, but these guys are all over it (although if I recall this was the second attempt as the first try landed on the floor – they don’t fly all that well!)

Thriller anyone?

Ah, I love the photo booth! Here are some of my favorite shots…

And that’s all she wrote, folks!
