Happy First Birthday!

This little cutie came in for a photo shoot just a few days before her first birthday. She is such a cutie with that big smile and those little teeth coming in. Mom was a big help getting her to smile and I could feel the love in the room. Little S had the most fun playing with her socks and was happiest holding one in her hand (and sometimes even in her mouth) :) which had us cracking up - great comedic skills already! I hope you had a great first birthday, little S!

Dogs…And More Dogs

More adorable dog sneak peeks…this first dog Wasabi, a chocolate lab mix who proved to be very photogenic, with adorable serious, smiley and tongue shots. I just love the little white patch on Wasabi’s belly! Hard to narrow it down for sure!

This next pup was also very photogenic and had some great action shots with ears flying, like the one below. Dog and owner have so much fun together, I’m not sure who is more in love with the other. Such a sweet face!

Give Me Some of That Energy!

This golden retriever puppy came into the studio last weekend and had so much energy, like most puppies do! Nothing was off-limits, from his leash to throw pillows, it was cracking me up! And like most goldens, he was definitely excited about tennis balls. Such a beautiful color and I am so glad his parents brought him in while he still has all that puppy energy, it was so much fun to capture. And I think by the end, we exhausted him (maybe only a little…)

Dogs, Dogs & More Dogs

Pet portraits continue with more adorable pooches! This first dog has the most beautiful curly black hair and photographed so well. The jumping shot is just too hilarious! I’m sure you are starting to notice a trend in my hilarious “dogs jumping for tennis balls” shots - I just love to see what I can get!

This Great Dane was very cute and expressive. He has the cutest tail that almost always points up!

This cute chocolate lab is so in love with her owner - she loved to stay right at her heels (which was one of the ways we got pictures of her). I love this between the legs shot - we really worked for it!

This little black pug had the cutest underbite - I’m so glad we got some pictures that showed it! He was all black except for one little spot on his back (you can see in the tongue shot) that I loved, it really gave him unique character!

Pet Portraits Galore!

I have been deep in the land of pet portraits these last two weeks and have had the opportunity to photograph some incredibly cute (and well trained!) dogs. I have almost thirty (!!!) people signed up for the pet portrait fundraiser, with more sessions coming up next weekend. I am waiving my normal session fee for the Ahimsa sessions and as of now, we have raised almost $700 through the donated session fees, with all the money raised to go to PAWS. I am hoping once we are through, we will surpass $1000, which will be the most I have raised yet through a pet portrait fundraiser. Very exciting!

I am already behind on blogging session sneak peeks, but here are some more adorable dogs that have come into the studio. Hope you enjoy the sneak peeks!

More Pet Portrait Sneak Peeks

Alright, I am already getting a little behind in getting these sneak peeks posted in time, but here are two more very adorable dogs that came in this last weekend. The first pup is definitely still a puppy - only three months old but already enrolled in puppy training at Ahimsa, which definitely helped in getting great shots. Although I know sometimes she was looking at us like we were a bit crazy - “I’m sitting people, what more do you want?” As a mini Aussie, she definitely has the most striking eyes of any dog that I have yet photographed. Check out below and you will see what I mean!

This next dog was a Golden who had the most amazing skills with a tennis ball, as you will see below. Her claim to fame is picking up two tennis balls at once - quite the party trick and had me cracking up! In typical golden retriever style, we had a hard time getting the tennis balls away, not even with the temptation of treats! Way too hard to choose my favorite shot!

Pet Portrait Session Sneak Peaks

This past weekend, I had the first set of many pet portrait sessions to help raise money for PAWS. I am waiving my normal session fee and asking for a donation to go towards PAWS. With 15 sessions this past Saturday and Sunday and at least that many more in the next two weeks, I am excited to see how much money we will raise. I will keep you posted on the final number! With most of the pets coming from Ahimsa Dog Training in Ballard, it was great to have so many well-behaved and well-trained pets in one weekend. It proves to me (well, I already knew it) that training your pet early on is soooo very important and really helps me in making the session run smoother.

Here are the first two (of many) pet portrait session sneak peeks. I hope you all enjoy! And A & R, I can’t wait to show you the rest tomorrow - way too cute!

Have I Mentioned I Love Engagement Sessions??

I met this couple at the Arboretum to start. The forecast called for rain (of course!) but we were lucky to start. They brought along their adorable Boston Terrier, which made for a fun, different take on some of the engagement pictures, and he was happy enough to wander by the pond and down the trails with us. We were able to get some great greenery and flower shots and even stumbled on a few surprises, like the silhouette tunnel shot below.

From the Arboretum, we headed down to Golden Gardens park, a great place to shoot, especially when the day is clear, which is was not for us. Even though it was definitely starting to rain by the time we got there (crazy detour took us on a very circuitous route, needless to say!), D & G were still up for more shots, although we left little pup in the car. Besides the water, there are great locations at Golden Gardens from the trees, brick building, mosaics and even some cool graffiti that worked out well for some love shots. :) It was so great to get to know D & G better and I can’t wait for their June wedding!

On a side note, engagement sessions are a great way to get to know your photographer before your big wedding day as well as to help you get more comfortable in front of the camera. Pictures can be used at your wedding for slideshows, guest books, matted pictures for people sign or to send out with save the date cards or invitations. Plus, they are just a lot of fun and provide us the freedom to go to places we might not have time to photograph at on your busy wedding day. You don’t need to restrict yourself to only engagement shots - I am always up for fun couples shots or anniversary shots and we always have time for at least two of your favorite locations.

Love Abloom in Ballard

I met this couple in Ballard to capture some beautiful engagement pictures and it made me realize how much more I need to visit Ballard. Can you believe this was the first time I really walked out on the Locks? That is just crazy! We had a great time walking around downtown Ballard with all of it’s fun and funky architecture and sculptures, then we made our way over to the Locks to get some greenery and watery. There are some very fun wave sculptures on the far side of the Locks that M was brave enough to walk all the way to in her amazing red heels (definitely experiencing some shoe envy here!). Since most of M’s family lives out of the country, it was very important to capture these pictures before she went to visit them for two weeks so she could show her family what her fiance even looked like!

I always enjoy doing engagement sessions before the wedding - it’s a great way to get to know the couple a little better before their big day. It was so much fun to get to know M & J before their August wedding - I know it’s going to be a spectatular day! Hope you enjoy!

Twin Sneak Peek

These two little cuties came in a few weeks ago and made my day! They were so sweet and mellow and it is just so much fun to capture little ones together. Plus, it was such an efficient shoot! If one baby needs a break, bring in the other one! No down time and lots of opportunities to capture some adorable baby pictures. M & M, I hope you enjoy the sneak peek and I look forward to seeing you at your ordering session. :)
